Vision: A community of families and professionals strengthened through sustainable family relationships and the experience of education providing the highest potential for self–actualization in all children.
The Lab School
We at the EnCompass Institute understand that the aim of education is to discover the greatness that lives in each of us. This is accomplished by meeting the needs of families, students and teachers. We believe that family cohesiveness, healthy relationships, and continuity of values between home and school are the keys to academic success and happy socially able children.
Coming in the fall of 2010, the Lab school will be the first private school in Portland grounded in the Natural Learning Rhythms approach to human development. With grades K-6 and mandatory adult development for teachers and parents, the school serves as a laboratory bringing together cutting edge curriculum to provide a learning environment that nurtures the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of its students and families.

- We begin our school day with an interpersonal activity. This provides an avenue for full participation by each member of the class and acts to equalize skill levels within the group.
- An extraordinary part of our program is that in the afternoon children are guided to select those classes, projects, themes or activities, which best fit with their overall development and strengths.
- The Thematic Projects allow for an interaction of the various ages where appropriate.
- The topics offered will be based on the Curriculum Plan prepared at the start of term for each student and reviewed when necessary.
